Clean Commute
BNMC & GO Buffalo Niagara
About this Project
The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC), in partnership with GO Buffalo Niagara, is bringing together major East Side anchor organizations – universities, hospitals, and other large place-based companies – to help improve access to clean mobility options for their employees, students, visitors, and neighbors.
Why? to help break down transportation barriers that impact job retention and access to new employment opportunities, to reduce pollution, and to support the health and wellbeing of the neighborhoods that the anchor are located in.
The project team will work with these anchors to develop and implement commuter policies, programs, and services that both encourage and make it easier for their constituents to get to work, school, and other important destinations via public transit, walking, carpooling, and bicycling. Examples include:
Providing free or reduced rate transit passes to their employees/constituents.
Improving on-site transit amenities
Advocating for improved transit services
Investing in carpool, vanpool, or employee shuttle programs
Electric vehicle charging
Access to a free ride home in the event of a personal emergency for employees/constituents who do no rely on a personal vehicle
Providing onsite bicycle commuting amenities
Supporting access to E-Bike Libraries and REDDY Bikeshare memberships
Providing flexibility in shift schedules
And much more.
